Shimon Farhang, PhD

Infrastructure and Civil Planning Consultant

Dr. Farhang is a recognized international authority on transportation and highway management. His universal vision is that all civil infrastructure, including agriculture, tourism, emergency response and security all depend upon roads and mutual collaboration for their success.

Accomplishments

As CEO for the LandUse Traffic and Highway Planning Company, Shimon has directed and monitored hundreds of main nationwide road and intersection planning projects.

Shimon’s talent in both the high-level, strategic perspective and detailed planning has put him in demand with clients in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. He is credited with putting cities, villages and remote areas on the map, with quick, effective access to main roads.

Shimon has been a respected consultant to initiatives between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, the Oslo Peace Accords, Jewish Agency and Gaza Corridor, as well as border roads, district master plans and city long-range planning, to name just a few.

As the head of highway planning for Israel’s Department of Public Works, Shimon spearheaded early statutory planning while assuming overall responsibility for all roads and highway systems in Israel, including broad planning, plan reviews and design. In this role, Shimon earned accolades for directing planning for all major traffic offices, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and other governmental offices.


Education

Shimon earned his BA in geography from Tel Aviv University, his MSc from Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in urban design and his PhD in transportation planning.
